I have kept all my installs since Bibble 5, and all of them have stopped working (Bibble 5, APS 1, APS 2 and APS 3). However, I recently discovered that AfterShot no longer works on Gentoo. Typically I install with rpm -ivh -nodeps, and it works just fine. The installers come in debian or rpm format, and I always go with the rpm. It has always just worked without a hitch.
